Hello World!

I have decided to revamp my website and start a blog. You can still view my experience in the “About Me” section, however I want also to focus on writing and developing a blog, which is a part of my New Year’s resolution. So in this blog, I will be writing about anything that interests me, not just tech-related stuff.

You might notice that I’m not using Wordpress, Drupal, or some other CMS. Instead I’m using a static site generator called Hugo and I’m hosting and delivering my content via GitHub Pages. I’m also thinking of reposting some of my content on Medium, but I’ll figure that out later.

Why Hugo?

It’s simple and it’s free. I like the concept of simply generating HTML with the appropriate directory structure from a collection of Markdown files. Also I can choose from a whole variety of themes, so that I don’t spend time tweaking the stylesheets and JavaScript. I ended up using the Hugo Geo theme by Alex Urquhart, and it looks absolutely fantastic. With some configurations, I had a fully functioning and well-designed blog and website, and I didn’t even touch a line of CSS or JavaScript.

How Often Will You Post?

I’m not sure yet. I am thinking of posting on a weekly or biweekly basis, but I’ll have to calibrate that depending on how busy I am this upcoming semester. But rest assured, I have some ideas for upcoming blog posts so you all should see new content sometime this week.
